Applications are now open for the 2025/26 academic year.

All applications must be received by no later than 31 August 2025.

Applicants will hear back from us between 15 and 25 September 2025.

During October 2025, family interviews will be conducted by the CLP Foundation.

The CLP foundation is providing an opportunity for students to apply for the high school /tertiary education scholarship for the 2025/26 academic year.  The scholarship is for students currently studying Grade 6 who have good academic records, who excel in sport and are economically deficient.

Students selected will be placed in schools partnered with the CLP Foundation in the Western Cape.

The CLP Bursary

The High School bursary will provide the following benefits:

  • Cost of tuition
  • Allowance for books and stationery
  • Allowance for uniform & casual clothing
  • Sports equipment
  • Allowance for school trips
  • Academic support and guidance
  • Transport allowance
  • Boarding to use accommodation.
  • Stationery
  • Textbooks
  • Toiletries
  • Support for extra murals
  • Monthly allowance

The Tertiary Education Bursary will provide the following benefits:

  • Cost of tuition
  • Petrol money to and from sports practices

Each case will be taken on individually and will be managed according to the discretion of the Directors.

Eligibility for the CLP Bursary

Candidates must check the eligibility criteria before applying for the bursary.  Preferably, there should be no exceptions.

  • The candidate must score a minimum average of 60% in their Grade 5 final exams
  • The candidate must have received a minimum of 60%  in English in final exams.
  • The candidate must score an average of 60% in term 2 assessments of Grade 6.
  • The candidate must need financial assistance and have a household income of of no more than R17,000 (for households with just one child), R20,000 (for households with two children), or R23,000 (for households with three or more children).

Tertiary Education Eligibility:

  • Need for financial assistance
  • Professional sports

How to Apply?

The applications can be submitted online or completed in writing (scanned PDF) and emailed to info@clpfoundation.co.za

Documents Required

All documents mentioned below must be attached to the application.
If any documents are missing or false, the application will not be considered.

  • Certified copy of the candidate’s birth certificate
  • Recommendation supporting letters from coaches or teachers
  • Sporting certificates and levels completed.
  • Final Grade 5 report or grade 11 and 12  report
  • Final report of term 1 of Grade 6
  • Certified copy of Identity Documents of parents or guardians
  • Proof of Household Income of parents or guardians.  This could be the following:
    • Payslips/employment letters
    • Affidavit if self-employed
    • Proof of SASSA grant or pension
  • A letter of application (approximately 350 words) answering the following question:

          What would you wish for and why, if you were granted three wishes?

Ensure you have all the information and documentation to complete the application form.

You can fill in the online bursary application or download a copy of the form and then submit.

  • After consideration, applicants will be required to attend interviews with the CLP Foundation.
  • Applicants who qualify for the CLP Foundation Bursary will be required to attend interviews at the placement school.
  • After awarding the scholarship, a Memorandum of Agreement will be signed by the Foundation and placement school.
  • All applicants will receive feedback on their application whether they are successful or not.
